Sheep Shearing and Fiber Arts Day

Did you know that in the 1880s, El Paso County boasted the largest population of sheep in the state? Costumed historical interpreters, farmers, shearers, and fiber artists come together to bring you this slice of our Colorado heritage. Be enthralled by the expert sheepdog demonstrations, be mesmerized by the traditional sheep shearing, and be inspired by the journey wool takes from the sheep to our homes. Visit the General Store to buy gifts made from our very own sheep! All historic homes will be open throughout the event.

Spring Homeschool Day

Step back in time for some hands-on learning opportunities for all ages. Make a cornhusk doll at the Homestead Cabin as you learn about 1860s pioneer life. How did the railroad transform settler life in Colorado? Discover what it took to be a farmer or rancher in the Pikes Peak region in the 1880s. Why was a blacksmith essential to ranch operations in the 1890s? Explore all these ideas and more while chomping down on some popcorn from the General Store at Homeschool Day. Designed for homeschoolers. Everyone welcome!

Admission is $4.00 per person, children 2 and under are FREE for this self-paced tour of our historic sites. Be sure to dress for the weather. Most of this program is outdoors with limited indoor space.

Summer Tea Luncheon

Experience a delightful Summer Tea Luncheon at the Orchard House, under a tent on the secluded pergola lawn, followed by a tour of the historic country estate!

Learn about Edwardian history and etiquette while dining in historic fashion with friends and family. Chicken salad sandwiches, scones, and sweets will be served along with hot tea and cold lemonade. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer alternative fare for those with food allergies, but you are welcome to call (719) 578-6777 with any questions. Reservations include admission to all the historic sites at the Ranch.
