Lauren Dunbar will present an illustrated talk with details about the personal passions throughout the life of Elsie Woolsey Chambers (1845—1923). As the youngest of eleven children, Elsie’s growing up stories include her birth on an orchard farm in the Hudson River Valley of New York, a ladies seminary in Poughkeepsie and then teachers’ college in central Pennsylvania. Elsie’s courtship and marriage at the age of 26 to widower Robert Chambers in 1871 began a new chapter of welcome challenges.
