Schedule Your Field Trip

We are excited to partner with schools in the Pikes Peak Region to provide your students with an educational, hands-on experience at our living history ranch. Engage with Colorado history up close with out historical interpreters.

Experience what life would have been like prior to the homestead era, when Ute bands traded with French trappers; the effects of the Homestead Act of 1861 on the West; how early settlers farmed in Colorado’s arid climate; how the railroad brought new entrepreneurs to the Pikes Peak region; and what a late 19th-Century blacksmith did in a day at the anvil.

Information for Teachers

We provide guided tours for your students, who must be chaperoned by a teacher at a ratio of at least 1 teacher per 10 students. We will tailor the experience to the age groups of your students. Picnic tables on the south side of the Orchard House and at various locations by the pond make great spots for post- (or pre-) field trip picnics. Restrooms and drinking fountains are available on site.

Fall field trips are offered the first three weeks of October on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Spring field trips are offered every Thursday and Friday from April 13th through May 19th. Visit in the morning from 9:30-11:30am, or in the afternoon from 12pm-2pm. We require a minimum of 40 students per field trip. Tickets are $4 per student and extra adults who are not designated chaperones. We encourage homeschoolers and homeschool co-ops to visit the Ranch on our Homeschool days in fall and spring.

At Rock Ledge Ranch, we steward a diverse outdoor museum by engaging, inspiring, and educating guests with the cultural and agricultural stories of the Pikes Peak Region.
