NEW IN 2020! Join us for Rock Ledge Ranch Barnyard Buddies! A First Thursday preschool program for children 6 and under to read a book, make a craft, and participate in an activity at the Ranch! Sheep Shearing

Homespun Fun at the Ranch! In the 1880s, El Paso County boasted the largest population of sheep in the state at 120,000 critters. This produced about 560,000 pounds of fleece! Watch as the sheep are sheared with traditional and modern equipment and see a demonstration of expert the sheep dog handling. There will also be carding, spinning, dying, and weaving demonstration. Make Rock Ledge Ranch your tradition for Independence Day! Visit each historic site to see how the eras celebrated the nations independence! Witness a re-enactment of a Revolutionary War Encampment and hear the Declaration of Independence read. Honest Abe will read the Gettysburg address. Visitors can also meet General William Jackson Palmer, Teddy Roosevelt, and Katherine Lee Bates while patriotic brass band music resonates throughout the site! The highlight of Labor Day is our annual vintage base ball match between the Camp Creek Cloud Busters (your home team) and the STAR Base Ball Club of Colorado Territory. The Cloud Busters are no “farm team,” but needs your support to cheer them on to victory! To keep the meat from spoiling during the curing process, hogs were processed in the coolest, fall months of the year.  Lard is rendered to cook, make soap, and medicines.Everyone participated in this annual event, so dress for the weather and join us at the Woodworking Shop for this educational demonstration.In addition to hog processing, you can tour the historic sites and see sausage making, cooking, and activities.
